City Council Hears Public Comments on Charles City’s Wildwood Golf Course

The future of the clubhouse at Wildwood Golf Course in Charles City comes with a lot of question marks.

The City owns and operates the golf course and the some 100-year-old clubhouse. The Park-Rec Board recently toured the facility and got a firsthand look at the repairs and upgrades needed. A review if the building by a contractor noted that the extent of the work required could mean replacing the clubhouse altogether.

At Monday night’s regular City Council meeting, resident Steve Schwartzrock addressed the Council about saving the clubhouse.

Still, Schwartzrock concedes the current clubhouse needs a lot of wor.

No action could be taken by the council, but Mayor Dean Andrews said he would make Schwartzrock’s opinions known to the Parks and Recreation Department and Park-Rec Board.
