A northeast Iowa man is dead after his car ran into a tree in southeast Iowa Sunday morning.
The Iowa State Patrol says the wreck occurred on Highway 218 near mile marker 73, about 10 miles east of Washington, shortly before noon. 25-year-old Brenden Poole of Ossian was driving a Chevy Impala southbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, which then entered the ditch, vaulted a small creek, and crashed into a tree.
Poole was killed in the accident while a minor passenger was injured.
