For the second time within a week, a north Iowa school district is dealing with possible inappropriate conduct by a staff member.
In a letter to the Riceville Wildcat Family Monday, Superintendent Barb Schwamman said a teacher at the high school level in the Riceville School District has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted into allegations of inappropriate behavior. A statement also reads that the district launched an investigation immediately and that the teacher was placed on leave the same day.
Schwamann added that because it is a personnel issue, she can provide no additional details on the matter at this time. She also said that student safety is one of the most important things at Riceville schools and we thoroughly investigate any report that raises a concern about the conduct of a staff member.”
Last week, officials in the West Fork School District placed Activities Director Alex Brayton on administrative leave pending an investigation into an inappropriate text he sent to a student. The School Board is slated to take up the matter at their meeting next week, but it may only be procedural, since Brayton has already resigned. In a statement, he admitted to and apologized for his poor judgment, saying it can not be tolerated by the school district.
