Charles City School Board to Meet Monday Night About Superintendent Search

The Charles City School Board will meet in special session Monday night to decide what direction they’ll take next in finding a successor to outgoing Superintendent Mike Fisher.

Fisher will resign effective June 30th to become Superintendent of schools in his hometown of Oskaloosa.  Earlier this week, the Charles City School Board canceled an interview session with potential replacements when the number of candidates targeted for interviews dwindled to almost none.

Board President Pat Rottinghaus says the district is a victim of timing and candidates they liked finding jobs elsewhere.

Rottinghaus says, even before that, the competition for viable candidates was stiff and limited.

Rottinghaus adds that one candidate has expressed consideration for superintendent on an interim basis. Joseph Brown is currently interim superintendent at Clear Creek Amana Schools, west of Iowa City.

Monday night’s special school board meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Library and is open to the public.
