Voting for New Charles City Flag Closes Friday

Public voting on the final design of a new city flag for the City of Charles City comes to a close Friday (04.08).

In conjunction with its 100th anniversary celebration, the Charles City Lions Club has worked on a final design for a city flag over the last year. The new flag will be displayed along with the U.S. and Iowa flags on the three-pole memorial in Central Park, which was dedicated last May by the Lions Club.

Mayor Dean Andrews says flags will also be available for sale as a fundraiser for Main Street Charles City.

Four finalist flag designs have been selected for public voting through Friday and Andrews says voters can vote for their top two of the four finalist designs, one for the design they consider best and one for your second choice. A link to online voting can be found in this story on our station website.

The public can also view the flag designs and vote in person during regular business hours at either the chamber office or the Charles City Public Library.
