Initial Report on Study of Chickasaw County-Run Ambulance Coming Next Month

Chickasaw County officials will get an update next month on the initial findings from a Minnesota company studying the feasibility of the county operating its own ambulance service.

The Chickasaw Ambulance Council has contracted with SaveTech Solutions for the study, which began in mid-March with a series of interviews with officials and other leaders from the various municipalities represented on the council. SaveTech also held a rare town hall meeting for the public to weigh in on the issue. This “Phase 1” of the study also included the gathering of various statistical information such as the number of ambulance calls and where they come from as well as response times.

Chickasaw County Supervisor Jake Hackman has been the lead contact with SaveTech and told fellow supervisors during their regular meeting Monday, that the company will issue a report on the information gathered thus far as part of their “Phase II” report in May .

Hackman says the joint meeting between the Board of Supervisors and the Ambulance Council has been set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May17, at a location still to be determined.

The County currently has a contract with Jeremy McGrath and Chickasaw Ambulance Service through December 31st.
