Charles City School Board to Review Superintendent Survey

The Charles City School Board will meet in special session Thursday to review results from a public survey on the qualifications stakeholders value in the hiring of the district’s next superintendent.

Current Superintendent Mike Fisher announced last month that he would resign as the head Comet to take over as superintendent of schools in his hometown of Oskaloosa. Fisher’s resignation is effective June 30th.

The district has hired Grundmeyer Leader Services to head up the search for Fisher’s replacement. It was Grundmeyer that helped bring Fisher to Charles City in 2018.

Grundmeyer representatives will make a presentation of the survey’s results during Thursday’s special board meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Services building just south of the high school.

There were 331 online surveys from those in the school district completed during the survey period from March 11 to March 24. Over a third of respondents were parents, while community members and teachers each made up about 20% of surveys submitted.
