Mason City Fires Considered Suspicious

Two fires, just two blocks apart, in a three-day period in Mason City are being considered suspicious.

In a joint media release, the Mason City Fire Department and Mason City Police Department say they are working on two recent fires, including at LDs Filling Station at 620 12th Street Northeast at about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 17. The second occurred at the Coin Laundry Center, at 830 12th Street Northeast, just before 12:30 p.m. on Sunday March 20. 

The departments say the circumstances surrounding each of these fires is suspicious and ask anyone who may have been in these areas at the time the fires occurred to call and report anything that appeared to be unusual. Information can be called into MCPD at 641-421-3636 or given to 

CrimeStoppers of North Central Iowa and rewards are possible for information that leads to arrest/conviction.

Mason City Fire and Police say they are working to hold accountable the person or people responsible for these incidents.
