Floyd County Museum Finalist for “Silos and Smokestacks” Site of the Year

The Floyd County Museum in Charles City is one of five finalists for Iowa’s “Silos and Smokestacks” partner ‘Site of the Year” award.

The Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area has 115 partner sites in all and is conducting voting now through this Friday for the “People’s Choice Site of the Year” at www.silosandsmokestacks.org. The top three vote-getters will be invited to the Partner Site Annual Training on April 5th the Waterloo Convention Center, where the winner will be announced and presented with the “Partner Site of the Year” traveling award.

On the Silos and Smokestacks website, Floyd County Museum’s accomplishments for 2021 are highlighted, including the addition of a new education program for K-12 students, the start of a new capital improvement campaign, 17 new exhibits, and continual efforts to the agricultural story of Iowa and, specifically, Floyd County.

Clayton, Franklin and Hardin counties are also recognized among the finalists including the George Maier Rural Heritage Center in Elkader and the Ackley Heritage Center in Ackley.
