Chickasaw County Ambulance Feasibility Study Underway

A study on the feasibility of Chickasaw County operating its own ambulance service is underway
The Chickasaw County Ambulance Council has contracted with SaveTech Solutions to conduct the study, which is expected to include at least 60 interviews Monday and Tuesday with elected officials and other select representatives for the eight cities and the county that are represented on the ambulance council.
SaveTech representatives also hosted a town hall meeting Monday night at the Chickasaw County Community Services Building in New Hampton to give the general public a chance to weigh in.Ā
Lawler Mayor Mark Mueterthies is the chair of the ambulance council. He estimates upwards of 50 people attended, with 15 or so voicing opinions on what direction the county should take in regards to ambulance services.Ā
Muetherhies says the town hall meeting and the series of interviews are part of Phase 1 of SaveTechās feasibility study, which also includes compiling the information they gather this week, Phase II will have SaveTech issue a report to the ambulance council on their findings and recommendations. During Phase III, Mueterthies says SaveTech would then help the County develop a plan for whichever direction is taken with ambulance services.Ā
In addition to the feasibility study, the ambulance council in January also approved a six-month contract extension with current provider, Jeremy McGrath and Chickasaw Ambulance Service, that will continue services through December 31st.Ā
