Charles City to Study Parking Near Union House

The City of Charles City will study how to approach parking for residents of the Union House as more people move into the downtown residential complex.

With no official parking spaces for Union House tenants established, Mayor Dean Andrews says officials are looking to strike a balance between vehicles parked on adjacent streets versus not taking parking spaces away from customers at nearby businesses. Andrews says there’s also the issue getting cars off the street during snow removal operations by the City.

Andrews says the long term goal is creating more parking to the west of the Union House.

Andrews says nothing has been decided on the Union House parking and added that it’s not likely the parking lot issue can be addressed this year, but hopefully a more permanent solution can be in place by next year.
