The Foster Grandparents Program is marking its 50th year in north Iowa.
Jennifer Lantz with Foster Grandparents of Charles City says the last couple of years have been challenging for the program in the midst of the pandemic, but grandparents continue to provide kids of various ages a little extra support.
Lantz adds that one doesn’t have to be a grandparent to become a Foster Grandparent.
Lantz says the program will have an official 50th celebration in April and that this week is also Americorps Seniors Week, which Foster Grandparents are commemorating by filling some 1,800 Project Sunshine Bags to be distributed to children in hospitals.
