Nashua-Plainfield Looks to Fill School Board Vacancy

The Nashua-Plainfield School District could name a new school board member Monday (03.14) night.
The school board has a vacancy that was created when former board member Jeff Ulrichs announced at the February board meeting he would be moving out of the school district. Since Ulrichs was one of three board members that represented Chickasaw County, his replacement must also reside in Chickasaw County. Those who would like to be considered must send or present a letter of interest to Board Secretary Brittany McNeil before Monday’s School Board meeting.
McNeil says the board intends to fill the opening Monday night, unless eligible electors in the N-P school district file a petition requiring the vacancy be filled by special election. The deadline to file such a petition is 4 p.m. Friday (03.11).
Replacing Ulrichs would bring the school board back to its full capacity of five members, with Chris Hagen and Laura Folkerts representing Chickasaw County and Patrick Lentz and Cody Jensen representing Bremer, Butler and Floyd counties.
Those interested in becoming a board member can contact Brittany McNeil at 641-435-4835 or via email at [email protected]. Contact McNiel for petition details and signatory requirements.
