Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office Issues Another Scam Alert

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office has issued another alert to the public regarding scam phone calls, with the latest scam hitting “close to home.”
In a Facebook post Thursday, the department says that a person has been calling potential victims claiming to be from the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office. The scammer even states his name as Officer Alexandra Green and provides a badge number of B532.
The culprit has been advising individuals that there is a warrant for their arrest because they missed a Grand Jury date on March 3rd and that the next date is scheduled for August 31st. They also provide a warrant number (CJ3790W297RR31C), a citation number (3725890), claim the warrant is for $425.00, and asks for payment over the phone.
On Wednesday, the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert of a scam looking to capitalize off the popular Publishers Clearing House (PCH). Scammers claiming to be with PCH have been asking individuals to send money in the mail in small amounts and that they will receive a lot of money and/or a truck.
The sheriff’s office asks the public to share these scam alerts with others that may not be aware of the fraudulent practice. Anyone targeted by these scams is asked to contact authorities immediately.
