Pure Prairie Farms Hosts Town Hall Meeting Tonight in Charles City

The new owners of the former Simply Essentials chicken processing plant in Charles City look to introduce themselves formally to the community later this week.

Pure Prairie Farms Vice-President of Strategic Initiatives Anita Janssen says its first hour-long town hall meeting, Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Youth Enrichment Center on the Floyd County Fairgrounds, will be a “high-level” information session.

Janssen says the company’s presentation will take about 20 minutes, leaving the rest of the time for questions from the public. She adds that the reception from community leaders thus far has been overwhelming.

PPF, which purchased the Charles City facility in December, will employ about 50 people when the plant initially re-opens, which Janssen says will hopefully be late June or shortly thereafter.
