Floyd County Supervisors Set Max Property Tax Levy

After delaying a decision by one week, the Floyd County Board of Supervisors has set the max property tax levy that will still result in an increase for taxpayers for the 2022-23 fiscal year, but not by the amount previously projected.
The Floyd County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on the proposed max tax levy last week (02.28) with about 20 citizens in attendance opposed to tax increases and supervisors tabled any decision to examine the County budget closer in hopes of lowering that increase.
During their regular meeting Monday (03.07), moved to a 4:30 p.m. start time, which about 20 people attended, Supervisor Roy Schwickerath made the motion to propose the County’s revised max tax package.
Supervisors reminded the audience that the max tax levy is the maximum rate they could charge, but they will continue to make efforts to lower that number by the time they hold a public hearing on the 2022-23 fiscal year budget, set for 4:45 p.m. on Monday, March 28th.
