West Union Preps for RAGBRAI Overnight Stop

The population of West Union figures to grow by almost 10 times its size the night of July 29th.

West Union is overnight host city number six on the 2022 RAGBRAI route. Chamber Executive Director Matthew Marsala says they have a lot of work to do in the next five months.

Marsala says West Union has been spruced up since they last hosted RAGBRAI riders in 2005.

The RAGBRAI West Union committee is hosting a public forum Tuesday  (02.22) night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. They’re looking for volunteers and theme ideas for their official RAGBRAI t-shirt.

Prior to West Union, RAGBRAI riders stop in Mason City the night of July 27th, followed by Charles City on July 28th.

The 52.8 mile bike ride from Charles City to West Union is the shortest leg of this year’s ride, which will cover about 430 miles in all from Sergeant Bluff east across north Iowa to Lansing.
