Congressional Candidate Mathis Stops in Charles City

District 23 State Senator Liz Mathis (D) of Hiawatha made a stop in Charles City Saturday to drum up support in her bid to represent Iowa’s new 2nd U.S. Congressional District.
Democrat Mathis met with volunteers, including District 52 State Representative Todd Prichard (D) of Charles City, to knock on voters’ doors on her behalf.
Mathis says she sees no problem in reaching 1700 the signatures she needs to face off against Republican Ashley Hinson, who represents Iowa’s current 1st Congressional District.
Mathis says addressing the worker shortage is one of her top priorities and ventures like the new NIACC Career Learning Academy coming next year to Charles City can play a vital role in cultivating skilled labor.
The new Second Congressional District covers 22 northeast Iowa counties including Floyd, Chickasaw, Cerro Gordo, Worth, Mitchell, Howard, Winneshiek, Fayette, Butler, Bremer and Black Hawk counties.
