One Person Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash in Northeast Iowa

One person was killed and four others injured in a three-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in northeast Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol says the wreck occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. Saturday south of Hazelton in Buchanan County. A 2011 Chevy Silverado was southbound on Highway 150 when it crossed the centerline and collided head on with a northbound 2008 Pontiac SD before crashing into a 2021 Ford Explorer.
The identities of the drivers, the fatality and those injured have not been released, but the state patrol report shows the deceased was the driver of the Pontiac and was from Perry. A passenger in the Pontiac, from Des Moines, was taken to University Hospital in Iowa City.
Two people in the Silverado were from Independence and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Waterloo. The driver of the Explorer, from Fairbank, was taken to Buchanan County Hospital in Independence.
The wreck remains under investigation. The Fayette and Buchanan county sheriff’s departments, and Hazelton Fire and EMS also responded to the scene.
