New Owners of Charles City Chicken Plant Looking at Expansion

The new owners of the former Simply Essentials chicken processing plant in Charles City are already looking to branch out.
Monday, representatives of Pure Prairie Farms (PPF) met with city officials, including City Administrator Steve Diers, who told the City Council that PPF would like to expand their operations.
Diers says taking that section of Main Street out of commission is not official but it would eliminate the difficulty of making turns at the intersection of North Main Street and North Grand Avenue.
Diers added that Monday’s meeting with PPF was very positive.
Diers says PPF could be operational by early summer. The plant has been closed since Simply Essentials shut down in August of 2019.
