TLC Officially “Breaks Ground” on Renovations of Former Charles City Middle School

The Learning Center’s (TLC) move into the 1970’s portion of the former middle school building at 500 North Grand Avenue in Charles City made it official Monday with a ground breaking ceremony.

Dan Levi with Levi Architecture of Cedar Falls designed TLC’s plans for the remodel and says it’s a great example of community involvement he touts across the state.

Levi adds that the persistence of TLC Director Pam Ost and its Board of Directors has also been key to moving the project forward.

TLC is targeting completion of the remodel and renovation by the end of May, begin moving into the new location during the month of June, and having the children in the building in early July. With the expansion, TLC will be able to increase the number of children they can serve from their current 93-child capacity to about 165 kids.

The 1930’s portion of the former middle school is being remodeled into residential apartments.
