Rapid Home COVID Test Kits In High Demand

Pharmacies are struggling to keep rapid home COVID test kits in stock.

Thursday, Cindy Uetz with Main Street Drug in Charles City said their next shipment of tests should come soon, but they have been hard to come by.

In the meantime, Uetz says the pharmacy has kept busy with curbside rapid testing.

Uetz advises curbside testing customers to call ahead to let the pharmacy know you’re coming and call the store again when you arrive. She says the process takes about 15 minutes until your results are known.

Uetz says the store was also expecting a shipment of free government-supply N-95 masks, but they don’t know how many they would receive.

Free Test Iowa COVID home tests are also available at county public health departments, but it takes about three days for results to come back.

Public health offices request those wanting a Test Iowa kit to not enter the building, but call when you arrive and a staff member will bring the kit out to your car.
