Phones for Howard County Courthouse, Sheriff’s Office Still Out

A phone outage impacting the Howard County Courthouse and the Howard County Sheriff’s Office could linger into Tuesday.

The phone system went down Sunday afternoon and Sheriff Tim Beckman says the phones will be out all of Monday and possibly into Tuesday. He adds that a part to repair the phone system has been ordered.

Law enforcement phone numbers affected by the outage are 563-547-3535 (sheriff’s office) and 563-547-2424 (Cresco Police Dept). The public is asked to call 563-419-1587 for non-emergencies to get a hold of the dispatcher. Beckman says the outage extends to the Courthouse as well. He also stresses that 911 services are NOT affected and calling 911 is still working.

Officials say they will update the public when the phone system is working again.
