New Hampton School District Preschool Program Gets $60,000 in State Funding

Funding for the preschool program in the New Hampton School District has received a boost from the state.

Like many schools last year, Superintendent Jay Jurrens says their preschool enrollment was down, but the School Budget Review Committee (SBRC) will give the district just over $61,000 to help cover the shortfall due to 18 fewer preschoolers at the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

The school district is also saving over $50,000 through the refinancing of revenue bonds, which Jurrens says has been a valuable money-saving tool for taxpayers.

The savings from the most recent revenue bond refinancing is earmarked to help pay for replacing the high school track surface at the Chickasaws’ football stadium.
