Deadline for Persons Interested in Chickasaw County Supervisor Position Friday

While there will be a special election to select a successor to Chickasaw County District 1 Supervisor Rick Holthaus, who passed away earlier this month, someone must still be appointed to the position to serve on the board until the ballots are cast.

County Auditor Stephanie Mashek says a committee of county officers including herself, Recorder Shirley Troyna and Treasurer Sue Breitbach, will appoint an interim supervisor this Tuesday. She says those interested in the appointment must come forward yet this week.

Mashek says a petition was submitted to her office last week to request the special election to name Holthaus’ replacement. She adds that the special election could be held in late February, but might be pushed into early March.

Holthaus was elected to the Board of Supervisors in November 2020 and his four-year term runs through December 31st, 2024. Whoever wins in the special election will serve out the remainder of that term.
