Floyd County Could Hire New Engineer Soon

Floyd County appears to be close to hiring a new County Engineer.

At their regular meeting Monday morning, Supervisors Chairman Doug Kamm said a solid, experienced candidate has come to the forefront and the Board decided they would set a special meeting in conjunction with interviewing the applicant.

The County has been looking for a replacement for Dusty Rolando, the County Engineer for the last 20 years, who resigned October 1st after his second OWI arrest. The original application period that ended December 6th yielded only one candidate, but that candidate did not have the preferred experience. Three weeks ago the Board voted to extend the application deadline to March 1st, with the caveat the search could end sooner if the right candidate was found before then.

Rolando, who was the shared County Engineer with Chickasaw County, has been working on a temporary contract to help the County secondary roads department through the fiscal year budgeting process. Roman Lensing was promoted from assistant engineer to replace Rolando as County Engineer for Chickasaw County, but only for Chickasaw County alone.
