Snow Totals Vary Across the Region from Friday’s Snowstorm

Friday’s winter storm added about a half a foot of new snow cover to several areas of north Iowa.

According to the National Weather Service in LaCrosse, Charles City received 6.8 inches of snow from the steady downfall throughout the day. The NWS says New Hampton received about 6.5 inches of snow Friday while Fredericksburg got 4.5 inches. 

For the most part, snowfall totals with the storm decreased further east and north of Charles City with Decorah getting just three inches.

Snow accumulations went up to the west of Charles City, as evidenced by the snowfall total Friday reaching eight inches in Nora Springs. 

Mason City recorded nine inches of snow Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines.
