The identity of the person or persons who purchased a winning $2 million Powerball ticket in New Hampton is still not officially known.
The Iowa Lottery says the $2 million-winning ticket was purchased at Casey’s at 615 North Linn Avenue in New Hampton for Monday night’s drawing. The ticket came within one number of having at least a share of Monday night’s $26.8 million jackpot.
The lucky ticket matched the first five numbers, but missed the Powerball, still good for a $1 million prize. But whoever bought the ticket added the Power Play® option to multiply the prize to $2 million.
New Hampton Casey’s Manager Kari Willadsen says several people have come into the store asking her or telling her that they might know who purchased the ticket. She says she could not confirm if any of the guesses were correct or not, adding the official announcement would come from the Iowa Lottery.
The New Hampton ticket was the only one in the country to win a $2 million prize in Monday night’s drawing.
Casey’s will receive a $2,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $2 million-winning ticket.
