Substitute Teacher Plan on Tonight’s Charles City School Board Agenda

The Charles City School Board is scheduled to hear a plan to address the shortage of substitute teachers when they conduct their first regular meeting of 2022 tonight.

The agenda includes a presentation by Middle School Assistant Principal Dana Sullivan on future substitute teacher staffing plans. From the start of the school year through December 1st, the district reported over 375 instances in which they didn’t have the substitutes to fill in.

Superintendent Mike Fisher has previously said an adequate pool of subs just doesn’t exist.

Also on the agenda is the possible approval of a bid for the North Grand Avenue renovations that will transform the 1970s portion of the former middle school building into expanded operations for TLC childcare.

The school board meeting begins at 6:15 p.m. in the High School Library.
