Due to severe weather throughout much of Iowa Wednesday, the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) has cancelled three public informational meetings in north Iowa for a proposed carbon-capture pipeline.
Meetings for the Navigator Heartland Greenway LLC proposed pipeline project in Franklin, Butler, and Floyd counties, scheduled for Thursday and Friday, will be rescheduled by the IUB at a later date. Navigator will provide notice of the rescheduled informational meetings to each landowner affected by the proposed route of the carbon capture pipeline.
Navigator has targeted the Valero Renewables plant just west of Charles City as a possible origination point for one of their carbon (CO2) pipelines, which would transport the CO2 in liquid form to a storage facility in Illinois. That makes Navigator the second such company to eye Valero Charles City for carbon capture.
In September, Summit Carbon Solutions made their pitch to Floyd County landowners who could become part of the “Midwest Carbon Express” pipeline, which would transport the CO2 to North Dakota. Summit has targeted the Homeland Energy Solutions ethanol plant between New Hampton and Lawler for the eastern end of it’s pipeline.
