Utility Companies Work to Restore Power Outages Caused by Wednesday Storms

Utility companies have been working to restore power to thousands of north Iowans following the winds, thunderstorms and tornadoes that swept through the area last night and early this morning.

In Iowa, according to poweroutage.us, there were 1,448 power outages in Floyd County as of 11:30 a.m. this morning, plus 2,679 in Howard County, 4,334 in Winneshiek County, 899 in Franklin County, 1,048 in Worth County, and 2,891 in Cerro Gordo County, which is a vast improvement over the 13,929 outages listed as of 10 p.m. last night.

Smaller power outages as of 11:30 a.m. this morning include Chickasaw County with 439, Butler County with 184, Bremer County with 42, and Fayette County with 90.
