The number of new positive COVID cases in north Iowa counties reported this week by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) was down from the numbers reported a week prior, but not for every county.
For the seven-day reporting period ending Tuesday, November 30th, both Chickasaw and Winneshiek counties both saw increases in new positive COVID cases. Chickasaw County’s 55 cases this week is up from 40 a week earlier, while Winneshiek saw their cases jump from 56 last week to 88 this week.
Floyd County recorded 49 new positive COVID cases this week, down from 51 the week prior. Others seeing declines in COVID numbers include Cerro Gordo with 143, down from 175; Bremer with 81, down from 97; Fayette and Franklin counties with 43 each, down from 65 and 54 respectively; Butler with 42, down from 54; Howard and Mitchell counties were both down from 40 last week to 28 and 24 cases respectively this week.
Worth County had the fewest new positive COVID cases for the week ending Tuesday, November 30th with 14, which was almost half as many as the previous week.
