While the finishing touches are still being put on the new Floyd County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Charles City, phase two associated with the project is lagging behind.
Renovations to the Floyd County Courthouse are also included as part of the construction, but progress has been slow and is causing frustration for county officials. During a special meeting Tuesday, Board of Supervisors Chair Linda Tjaden said it’s time to consider a “Plan B” to get things moving.
Tjaden says a meeting with contractors is scheduled for Monday to get representatives from all companies together to see what can be done to speed up the progress of renovations.
Related to the courthouse renovations, supervisors last week approved an asbestos removal contract with Advanced Environmental Testing and Abatement of Waterloo for almost $120,000.
