For the second time within a week, an inmate in the Winneshiek County Jail in Decorah has incurred new charges while behind bars.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says the latest incident occurred at about 10 p.m. Sunday night when 20-year-old Jared Miller of Sumner was accused of intentionally damaging jail property. Miller was charged with criminal mischief and remains in custody.
On Monday, November 22nd, while incarcerated in the Winneshiek County Jail , 21-year-old Jaylen Downs of Union, Iowa, was alleged to have physically resisted jail staff. That resulted in a charge of interference with official acts.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office is also reporting the arrest of 18-year-old Leonel Perez-Varona of Ossian just before 11:30 p.m. last Wednesday night (November 24th) for driving while license suspended. Earlier in the day, deputies arrested 31-year-old Travis Ruttman of Lawler on a Chickasaw County warrant for failure to appear.
