New Hampton Sets Water, Sewer Contingency Repair Plan

The City of New Hampton will approach as-needed water main and sewer line repairs with a three company contingency plan.

At their regular City Council meeting Monday night, Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says they reviewed the request for proposals (RFPs) to put local businesses “on call” as repairs come up.

Schwickerath says the RFPs approved this week are for emergency repairs while overhauling the City’s overall infrastructure is a work in progress.

Schwickerath says recent water and sewer rate increases, which were long overdue, will help the City build up the funds needed for more comprehensive repairs, including replacing their water treatment plant by 2032.
