The process of establishing new supervisor districts in Floyd County could take another step forward this week.
County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Gloria Carr says the Temporary Redistricting Committee has scheduled its second meeting Tuesday morning in their efforts to first determine new voting precincts.
Carr says reworking the voting precincts needed to be done due to the results of the 2020 census, which also meant new legislative districts that moved the northwest corner of Floyd County into the new House District 60 and new Senate District 30.
Carr says the City of Charles City must also rework their precincts before a plan for the three new supervisor districts can be drawn up. She says public hearings must also be held before the entire process is completed by January 15, 2022.
The TRC is scheduled to meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Floyd County Courthouse.
