A Charles City tire and automotive repair shop heavily damaged by fire September 7th is on the “road” to recovery.
Nelson Tire and Auto owner Dave Martin says there was never any doubt they wouldn’t bring the business back.
Martin says the fire, the second for the business in less than four years, was caused by a power bar that exploded, which may have been precipitated by a lightning strike a couple of weeks earlier.
Martin says they have purchased property adjacent to their location on Gilbert Street to expand their operation, with hopes of a new building constructed in December and reopening by January with a new name.
Martin says they are continuing to accept suggestions from the public to rename the business, which can be submitted through their Facebook page. He says names like “Nelson Fire and Auto,” “Hot Wheels,” and “Burning Rubber” have already been suggested.
Martin says the original Nelson Tire and Auto was established in 1998.
