Rules for Absentee Ballots Changing for Tuesday Election

Voters with absentee ballots not turned in yet for this Tuesday’s elections are on a tight schedule to get them mailed in on time.

Floyd County Auditor Gloria Carr reminds voters that there are new voting laws now in effect regarding the mailing of absentee ballots.

Carr says absentee ballots can also be dropped off at the auditor’s office through 8 p.m. election day. They’re also open Monday til 5 p.m.

If you think you won’t be able to mail in your absentee ballot in on time or are unable to drop it off at the auditor’s office, Carr says voters can still cast a regular ballot.

Carr says absentee ballots can not be turned in at your polling place and there are also new rules regarding who can turn in your absentee ballot. She says those rules are listed in the ballot itself.

Carr adds the county can still use more volunteers to help on election day. Contact the Floyd County Auditor’s Office for more information.
