Open House for New Floyd County Law Enforcement Center Saturday

The public has one final chance to tour the new Floyd County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Charles City before it’s fully operational.

Board of Supervisors Chair Linda Tjaden says the LEC will be available for citizens to walk through the facility from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday  Floyd County Sheriff’s deputies will be stationed throughout the building and there will be Question and Answer times at 10:45 and 11:45 a.m. to explain further how the facility will be used.

Tjaden added, “This will be the last opportunity for the public to walk through the building to see where and how their tax dollars were spent. No more tours will be available so staff can complete training in the new LEC in preparation for housing inmates.”

No date has been set as to when inmates will be moved from the jail on the fourth floor of the courthouse to the new jail facilities.

Parking for the open house is available in the parking lot north of the county courthouse and within the parking area next to the LEC.  Entrance will be through one of the LEC garages rather than using the front entrance to the building.
