The campaign trail continues for six candidates vying for three seats on the Charles City School Board.
Last Thursday, candidates met in a special forum hosted by the American Association of University Women and the Charles City Chamber of Commerce. Board hopefuls were asked how the school district is viewed.
Given first chance to respond was Current School Board President Josh Mack, the only incumbent seeking re-election, who said that view can vary.
Lori Otto said while some might have a questionable view of the district in recent years, the overall outlook is positive.
Staci Taylor said her conversations with parents, students and educators point towards a favorable view of the district, but there’s also work to be done.
Kathryn Fox said relaying a positive outlook of the district is a joint effort.
Claire Jung said the view of the district can depend on who you talk to.
The sixth school board candidate, Dr. David Schrodt, was unable to attend the AAUW forum due to illness.
You can hear more from the candidates during our special Charles City School Board Candidates Forum tonight at 7 p.m. on KCHA, sponsored by Zoetis.
