Over 300 people were allowed to take public tours of the new Floyd County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) last week.
Recapping the tours during their Monday workshop session, Board of Supervisors Chair Linda Tjaden said many people took notice that the construction of the facility is rather basic and not the “Taj Mahal.”
In addition to the safety for law enforcement staff, Tjaden said tourists were surprised to learn the new LEC also provides necessities not available with the current jail located in the county courthouse.
The dispatch center was expected to begin moving into the new LEC Wednesday and be fully operational by next Monday. Sheriff Jeff Crooks has said officials hope moving inmates into the new jail won’t be long after that.
