The Iowa DOT’s Transportation Commission has approved a loan and grant totaling over $1.2 million to a Charles City rail development project.
Modal Transportation Bureau Director Tammy Nicholson says, under the Railroad Revolving Loan and Grant (RRLG) Program, the Charles City Terminal (CCT) has been approved for a $900,000 loan and a $240,000 grant.
Nicholson says the grant will help create 20 jobs and adds that the CCT will be on a deadline to complete the project once they get started.
The RRLG awarded a total of $6.2 million in funding for seven rail infrastructure and related rail projects across the state. Together, they will create almost 300 jobs.
