Traffic Lights “Signal” End to Highway 18 Project in Charles City

There is now a clear “signal” the Highway 18 resurfacing project in Charles City is coming to an end.

Field Services Coordinator for the District Two office of the Iowa DOT, Pete Hjelmstad, says crews started today (10.12) activating traffic lights at key intersections.

While the traffic lights are becoming operational, Hjelmstad says COVID is limiting their full functionality.

Hjelmstad says activating the traffic lights is the final piece of the puzzle for the resurfacing of Highway 18 in Charles City. He says paving the road east of town should be wrapped up in the next couple of weeks.
