An Arizona man has been arrested on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop in north Iowa.
36-year-old Oronde Lowery was initially stopped for speeding on Interstate 35 in Cerro Gordo County on Tuesday. Lowery was clocked going almost 90 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone. That led to a search of his vehicle, resulting in authorities discovering a stolen handgun, marijuana and several large baggies of what appeared to be Oxycontin pills.
Court documents indicated however that the pills will be tested because they are likely fentanyl.
Lowery now faces charges of trafficking stolen weapons, being a felon in possession of a weapon, and various drug charges. He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $50,000 bond.
