ESSER COVID-relief funding is helping to make more mental and physical health services available to students in the New Hampton School District.
The School Board recently approved a $60,000 contract with Counseling and Family Services, which Superintendent Jay Jurrens says can be a valuable asset for students’ mental health.
The district entered an agreement earlier this year with MercyOne in New Hampton to make an athletic trainer available to students at the high school on a regular basis. Jurrens says the hospital hired a trainer to fill that position in mid-September.
Jurrens says ESSER funding will also cover the pay of a second school nurse for two years.
