Chickasaw County’s new county attorney will assume his duties officially on Thursday.
The Board of Supervisors appointed David Laudner to the position earlier this month and officially approved his hire at their regular meeting Monday. Laudner told the board he’s been in contact with the Anderson Law Office in Decorah, which has provided county attorney services on an interim basis to Chickasaw County, led by Andy Van Der Maatern, Winneshiek County Attorney since 1995.
Laudner was sworn in at the Chickasaw County Courthouse in New Hampton Thursday. He’ll replace Jennifer Schwickerath, who resigned the post in August after three years on the job to return to private practice.
Laudner will serve out the rest of her elected term slated to end December 31, 2022.
