North Iowa Man Takes Law on High-Speed Chase with Toddler in Car

A north Iowa man is in custody after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase with a toddler in his car.

Authorities initially tried to pull over a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Braden Johnson of Garner at about 12:30 a.m. Monday morning on Interstate 35. Johnson refused to stop his vehicle and began a chase with speeds reaching 120 miles per hour. Also in the vehicle was a three-year-old child and loaded guns, which were within reach of the toddler.

After law enforcement finally stopped Johnson, a search of the vehicle discovered he had an OxyContin pill in the pocket of his pants. Johnson is facing charges of eluding, child endangerment, and unlawful possession of a prescription drug.
