Rural City Councils in Floyd to See New Faces in New Year

The Nora Springs, Rockford and Colwell city councils will have new looks in 2022.

In Nora Springs, neither current council members Margaret Ueker or James Kraninger filed papers to seek reelection in November. Candidates who did file to possibly fill the two seats available include Bryant Hicock, Allen Bailey and Ashley Kohler. Mayor Randy Hassman will run for another term unopposed.

In Rockford, four candidates will vie for three city council seats. No incumbents filed to seek reelection, so Jerome Schlader, Keven Teftmeier, Sharon Enabnit, and Brent Medlin will vie for the positions. Mayor Scott Johnson will run unopposed.

Four candidates will also compete for three seats on the Marble Rock City Council. Incumbents J.R. Ackley, Todd Schriever, and Tracy Merfield are seeking reelection with John Marzen also filing papers to run.

Who will serve on the Colwell City Council is a mystery, with no one filing papers to run for office. Mayor Jeffrey Wright will run opposed.
