Minor Injuries in Two-Vehicle Collision Saturday Near Charles City

Minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision south of Charles City Saturday afternoon.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office says the wreck occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 218 and 250th Street. A Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Megan Bierschenk of Nashua was westbound crossing the highway when she failed to yield from a stop sign and was struck by the southbound 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix  driven by Allen Place of Thompson.

There were minor injuries at the scene, but the sheriff’s report does not indicate who was injured. Place’s car was considered a total loss. Damages to Bierschenk’s truck were estimated at $5,000.

The Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DNR, Nashua Fire Department and AMR Ambulance also responded to the crash.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday evening, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle in the ditch southwest of Marble Rock. 22-year-old Andrew Corwin lost control of the vehicle he was driving west on 300th Avenue and went into a ditch near the intersection with Echo Avenue.

No injuries were reported at the scene, the vehicle was considered a total loss, and Corwin was cited for failure to maintain control.
