Two north Iowans were killed in a two-vehicle collision in Floyd County Saturday afternoon.
The Iowa State Patrol says the wreck occurred near the intersection of Underwood Avenue and 140th Street near Colwell shortly after 2 p.m. A car driven south by 28-year-old Casey Lindahl of Charles City crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the northbound car driven by 77-year-old Chris Andersen of Mason City.
Andersen and a passenger, 76-year-old Anita Andersen, also of Mason City, were transported by AMR Ambulance to Floyd County Medical Center (FCMC) in Charles City, where they died from the injuries suffered in the wreck. Lindahl and a 3-year-old passenger in her car were also taken by AMR to FCMC for treatment of minor injuries.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and the Colwell and Floyd fire departments assisted at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
